The purpose of EFNEP is to help limited-resource families and youth acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behavior changes necessary to maintain nutritionally sound diets and promote personal development.
Our Mission: To provide research-based education to low-income families and youth that promotes healthy eating practices through wise use of resources.
Our Vision: All Tennesseans will form healthy eating and physical activity habits that result in optimal health regardless of income.
EFNEP is a nutrition education program conducted by University of Tennessee Extension,Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, with the National Institute of Food and Agriculture at USDA and local governments.
Faculty recruit, train and supervise nutrition educators who work in counties to deliver nutrition education to participants. This has been a successful model for delivering nutrition education for over 40 years.
