Our Mission: To provide research-based education to low-income families and youth that promotes healthy eating practices through wise use of resources.
Our Vision: All Tennesseans will form healthy eating habits that result in optimal health regardless of income.
EFNEP is a nutrition education program conducted by University of Tennessee Extension Service with the Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service at USDA and local governments.
The purpose of EFNEP is to help limited-income families and youth acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behavior changes necessary to maintain nutritionally sound diets and promote personal development.
Faculty recruit, train and supervise program assistants who deliver nutrition education to participants. This has been a successful model for delivering nutrition education for over 30 years.
There are two audiences in EFNEP, adults and youth.
